*..Getting old..*

In my childhood days, even up till my secondary school days, this used to be my favourite!

AXE BRAND MEDICATED OIL. I was practically applying it for every tiny ailment.

Wj didn't call me 香香公主 for nothing. LOL, put it in my pinafore pocket and it leaked quite often due to the loose black cap you see. =) If you smell feng you, it was probably xq walking in your direction.

Another childhood ointment was of course, the super old school, ZAM BAK.

My mum liked applying it for me on all blue blacks.  Even till now, since I never fail to get huge blue blacks from EVERY shoot I go. But I don't like the sticky feeling after application. YUCKS.

Well, in recent years, xq been having super bad backaches and back conditions. The pain kills me on average 3-4 days a month. On other days, it could be hurting but not lethally.

And today, I found out I'd inflicted a really bad sprain. My waist. ARGHHHHH. Feeling handicapped cos every move I make, it hurts like *&%^$^%#^!!! I can only lie down and stand totally upright, even sitting down hurts alot. Was carrying cartons of water yesterday at office while packing the production box. HAIS, must have been those stupid water bottles.

I think, Salonpas has become my best friend.

Get me one hamper of these for my birthday, and I'll be grateful. =)

What would I do without painkillers and Salonpas?

Hais, hate being slave to these. OH MISERYYY.

*..Non-dialogue scene..*

For the 1st 4 weeks of Screenwriting classes, we were doing non-dialogue scenes. Just saw this video on facebook and I found this rather insightful.

Of forgiveness. An emotionally & visually engaging scene. Loved the "superimpositions"

"When deep injury is done to us,
We never recover until we forgive.
Forgiveness does not change the past,
But it does enlarge the future."

*..I wanna watch!..*

xq's a movie a day campaign has been working quite well the past few days! =)

Friday: Departures
Saturday: Linger
Sunday: Girl, Interrupted
Monday: Yet to be decided

Have the sudden urge to watch one of the shows I've been wanting to watch but can't seem to find an opportunity to.

Carrot Cake Conversations(2008), directed by Michael Wang.

the official trailer..

heh heh, yeah I have a soft spot for local films. They have a really cool concept for their OFFICIAL WEBSITE too.

Check that out. The sub menus'icons are the "dishes", to view them in full, simply use the chopstick (the mouse) and lay them on the plate!

I WANNA WATCH!!! hmm one day I will.

xq wanna watch THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON (2008), directed by David Fincher too. haha! cravings all.

the trailer.

that's all, for now. Sigh my tooth's killing me. Feel like numbing out the pain. =(

*..The Sound Of Music..*

Came across this rather interesting video of "Doe, a deer a female deer...."

More than 200 dancers were performing their version of "Do Re Mi", in the Central Station of Antwerp. with just 2 rehearsals they created this amazing stunt! Those 4 fantastic minutes started the 23 of march 2009, 08:00 AM. It is a promotion stunt for a Belgian television program, where they are looking for someone to play the leading role, in the musical of "The Sound of Music".

wow a performance amidst the bustling train station. And the gradual, subtle appearance and expansion of the "dancers".

*..Marry Me?..*

Toufy showed me this award-winning short film this afternoon and it caught my attention. Heh, thought I would share with all! =) After that we watched it repetitively and found many set ups and payoffs! Whoa to the script-writer! aka the director I suppose. It's really a challenge directing kids' performance.

Haha toufy and I even had an in-depth analysis and discussion about this short-film after that. Talk about 职业病 tskkkk!

Directed by Michelle Lehman, last year's Tropfest Australia winning film, Marry Me, tells a little love story about "a little girl who likes a little boy and a little boy who likes his BMX bike". The film was inspired by a true story when director, Michelle, at 5 years of age, would chase Jason Mahooney around the school in a pretend wedding dress (her mother's nightie).

*..My childhood love..*

Today, after typing a proposal, I walked straight to my piano and realised it still gives me the same therapeutic effect. It took away the throbs in my head, and momentarily distracted myself from work.

I felt bliss. =)

Well, and some angst with myself, because I haven't been practising or even touching the piano in 425245 years, I got rusty with it. Haha woohoo MY CHILDHOOD LOVE! =)

This is something I've always wanted all my life: A white grand piano!

Since young, I've always wanted to have a big house with a big living room or a piano room where I can put my white grand piano on a raised parquet platform. It'd be surrounded by full-length windows overlooking a lush green garden, where I'll put nice day curtains with night curtains of floral prints!

And I kept playing this song, amongst all songs.

haha I came across this really cute picture too! I must have a wedding photo with the grand piano!!! =)

This childhood love I've forgotten amidst the busy schedule, I'll continue to keep this in a special place of my heart. After all, it took up 70% of my childhood memories.

*..awestruck by xq's new idol..*

I seldom post videos on my blog, so when I do...I'm really in awe of them..OH MY LORD!!! THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE BEST THING I'VE SEEN IN xxxx YEARS.

Yes, I'm on youtube frenzy once again. The 3rd time this holidays. Suddenly craved to watch SPOP on youtube, so searched for videos. And came across this song composition entry for SPOP, which I managed to catch on television some months ago by chance. Teresa (campus superstar) sang on screen, but the female composer kinda left an impression on me.

okay I just found this. It's what I saw on tv that time. 24th dec. Christmas eve only. Didn't wanna post it up cos THE AUDIO DOESN'T SYNC WITH THE LIPS. OMG.

Titled: Umbrella (yu2 san3)
the accompaniment is really classical-styled though.
DAMN NICE! so different from typical mando pop!

Her 1st classical video I saw, titled "Cry! Freedom!"
slow and resonating.

the 2nd one. I couldn't stop clicking.
Titled: Pantomime
Faster number, fluid and catchy.
my favourite of the three.

sadly, the final video she uploaded, titled "Journey".
amazing! the fluidity of the segments in her compositions.
Fluctuations all. OH MY LORD!

She's like 27 this year, but looks really young. There's something about the way she plays and her music, that sucks me in. ARGHHH NOW ON REPEAT MODE. =) This is so inspiring cos I haven't touched my piano in 45625278 years. Since the song I composed for non fiction production documentary. Erm it wasn't much of a song, more of a tune. OKAY I MUST TRY MY BEST!!! and wow she's in Berklee College of Music. And she has a video of her playing another mando pop song composition on guitar. Quite pretty too. Nice voice. Gee, why isn't she famous yet?!?! I'll be her avid fan. People should learn to appreciate talents like such, not empty vessels who look good on the outside but lack the talent/ability to justify their popularity.

How nice if I could be half as good as her some day.

yeah my laptop died, using bro's abandoned lappie now. Which has now become dad's. I REALLY HATE MSN. IT'S SO IRRITATING. adiummmm i miss youuuuu!

gdnite! I need to watch the videos again!

*..Greek Masterpieces from the Louvre..*

Helloo world! Belated posts series shall begin with this. My 23rd February 2008. Gee, it happened to be matthias' 23rd birthday and I actually forgot! Till I saw his facebook yest. xq is out of touch with dates. HAPPY BELATED 23RD MATT! erm..he doesn't read my blog...So nvm! HAHAHA!

Luisa says this place is depressing to read, apart from photo posts, so HAHA don't say I never post happy stuffs ah!

this is my favourite photo! HAHA! art museum's exterior. I wanna go to the exhibition again! CALEB LEND ME YOUR DSLR LEH! cos u're a nice boy! haha! i accept bribery..or else...i....HAHA joking! =p

the sculptures were really amazing. body contours, muscular contours, toenails, wrinkles, vains, clothes creases everything. Oh my lord. Exquisite only. All made of pentalic marble. We went on a guided tour and the volunteers input us on endless greek mythologies and historical facts. Love it.

Greek civilisation has been described as "agonistic" (ie) founded on the spirit of competition. This Greek ideal extolled excellence and made rivalry one of the driving forces of existence. Even the gods competed among themselves. Expressed mainly in the realm of sport, poetry recited at symposiums and theatre, AGON is the key to understanding of ancient Greek life, art and literature.

Something interesting to note, the gods are totally in nude and extremely tall. In contrast to the commoners. Who are dressed and smaller in size. Stature is to emphasise on their prowess.

I can't rem the name of this statue. tsk. too many la. He should be a philosopher.

2 headed sculpture!

another philosopher whose name I cannot recollect.

this marble portrait has a story behind it. Forgot the story. Haha shall take pics of the signboards as well the next time I'm there.

Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty.

Athena, goddess of wisdom and courage.

Aphrodite, holding golden apple.

The intricately sculpted feet. Nice only. And the nice nice clothings, how they fall nicely against the legs.

the fabric's supposed to be almost transparent. Oh wow, the sculptor successfully made it appear so. Really look transparent eh! NICE!

haha i heard this auntie pointing to this sculpture and she told her grand-daughter: "WAHHH the people last time, figure very good ah!" Then she walked one round around this sculpture, oogling at his marble-d nude body. WAHAHA!!!

there were many sculptures with missing body parts, cos some were lost when they were dug out from the soil. Here's one, headless mother only. eeeee. haha.

she's supposed to be one of the prettiest women in Greek mythology, forgot her name.

But I think she's the prettiest la. Nice scarf. And she looks so sad, like in mourning. Haha my favourite pic!

Here's Athena again. Athens was named after her, interesting story behind its naming.

Philosopher X. Haha paiseh, I'm really bad at remembering names even of humans, much less sculptures.

enough of sculptures, here's an everybody-is-happy photo!
xq, sex bomb, xiaobai!!!

wj and peiwen during the guided tour.

we watched this play on "If statues could speak" performed by NAFA students. Haha!!! I totally didn't understand the play. Oh my lord. Not art-sy enough. There was this girl who sang the tunes of the transitions to each scene, chilly voice. Really expressive person. Woo not bad! Look into the crowd at the back. There's mahen there. HAHA talk about coincidences.

wj with the tallest statue. So hard to properly expose both. Haha lighting sucks inside. Here's wj looking blue, and the statue overexposed.

here's wj looking alright, but the statue looking insignificant.

wah love this map at the entrance.

it makes a really nice backdrop for photos. AHAHHA cam whores.

people were allowed to sit by the sculptures ans sketch them. These were some of the works pinned up outside the exhibition room.

The entrance of the Art museum. Haha i really like stained glass. Nice and churchy.

close up of the stained glass windows. Haha art musuem's such a nice place. I wanna take my wedding pics there also! =)

peiwen aka wife #1 acting cute..HAHA!

peiwen again, this time acting as a tourguide.

wj helping some other people take photos.

this was a candid shot, I was setting the timer and pressed the shutter down by accident. But think this looks niceee.

okay, the real deal. Love timer mode! 10 secs, smile!

another of my better-liked photo taken that day. The swinging "chandeliers" hanging from the ceiling. This is the bottom view. Resembles snowflake eh.

HAHA incorrigible cam whores. wj has more photos! will send me soon.

wj blinking.

peiwen and wj behind walls.

xq and pw acting bollywood-ish.

let's end off with one last EVERYBODY-IS-HAPPY photo!!!

Yup, catch this exhibition before it ends!! Till march 16. About 2 more weeks left.

WOOHOO!! xq loves the art musuem! shall be going there alot more!!!! With so many festivals coming up in march. =)
