My Best Friend's Wedding (1997).

This has got to be one of the nicest films I've watched to date! It's been 30 mins since I finished watching it, but my heart feels a little heavy...in a good way I guess...I feel happy and sad for the female lead all at once.... I imagine myself in her shoes, and in the male lead's shoes...and you just get this combination of a very mixed feelings! Somehow, I feel like I can identify with how they're feeling, to a very small extent..

Great performance.
Perfect casting.
Bitter-sweet plot.
Magical moments.
Romantic elements.

Wah, everything's so nice about it. LOVE IT TO BITS.

There is this lingering feeling in my heart. Like something's tugging. I know this sounds really strange, but that's what I'm feeling now don't know why! So far the other films that made me feel this way are "UP" and "Girl, Interrupted". Probably more, but can't recall off hand.

This is, the most beautiful scene in more ways than one, of the entire film. Totally magical.

A very sentimental film that touches right through my heart, which teaches us that love is not about possessing, but about seeing our loved one through happiness.

The magical way great films work never fails to blow my mind.

How could you possibly shoot such high quality footages with a PHONE?! impressive sensitivity to light and colours. Exported as HD output. I was thinking the whole night, about the dolly/tracking shots, pans all so smooth and pretty...like do they actually have a camera mount and proper lighting set up? 

And my questions were answered by this video!

Now, they've proven the claim that IPHONE 4 can produce broadcast quality videos. Woohoo, new age filmmaking unveiled. Really cool stuff, hope I can do something like that with my new iphone next time. 

Imagine editing an entire film using touch screen iphone. Erm, think can die. Poor editor, she didn't sleep for 24 hours just to edit that.

Heh heh, now slave will be tempted to upgrade his iphone when I get mine! WOOHOO!!! I CAN'T WAIT!

Been busy and not blogging, cos too many things been going on and too much for updates. Okay, I mean, I've been lazy.

Anyhows good news! After going for IP MAN 2's Press Conference @ HK FILMART in March, it's finally gonna be released in SG! =)


The better news is, Chapman got us free passes to the movie premiere @ GV Marina tmr...WOOHOOO!

Was super tired the whole day since I woke up and looking forward to slumping on the bed. Waited for some time before we could leave sch for CamWerkz to check out equipment packages. Then went for location recce with mano, francis, cc and gina to this ulu pandan carpark space with 92865823523 insects and ants that loved crawling into my shoes and biting me.

Hahaha and it was kinda &%&^$& that gina cc and xq had to lug their heavy laptops along the looooong walk. They were worse, still had a DSLR with lens kit tsk.

Seriously quite far. Never trust guys' definition of "walkable distance". We walked from commonwealth MRT through the isolated stretch and ended up somewhere near Biopolis, walked in a loop and came to some railway track. After which, walked back to the commonwealth MRT. Took a bus to Clementi Mrt thinking we wanted to grab some bite there. Only to change our minds and take the MRT from clementi back to Dover again. URGH. Circlesssssss.

Met slave for dinner after his ot. We had yummy sushi tei again. Tskkkk BANNED FROM NOW! cos we've been having it on average once a week since CNY. Sometimes more.

HAIS SO LATE ALR. I've been wide awake since I jumped out to consciousness at 1230am. Dozed off at 1015pm whilst waiting for slave to reach home after sending me home. When he called at 1120pm, I was in a state of confusion. Wondering if it was dawn or night, if it was time for school. Then went back to sleep, and mum dragged me out of bed cos....

I was still wearing my outing clothes and in my contact lenses. HAHAHAHAHA!!!

Sigh, another boring day at school tmr. Looking forward to the Kelvin Tong Q & A @ school tmr though. My new idol! WOOHOO!

Just uploaded the pics from the gala premiere on 10th March 2010. I should start bringing a camera with splendid zoom lenses to such events. ARGHHHH MY S5IS! It's been away from me since August 2009. was supposed to get it back today. ^%*^$*%^$*! I vow never to lend anyone a camera again! (only very good friends qualify).

It's really nice for a local film, not being biased or what. But couldn't help noticing the concise 3 act structure and the Hero's Journey we covered in summer term's Creative Producing & Development classes. WOW. (zhi ye bing aka occupational hazard HAHA!)

And watching the show brought back memories of the filming month. 28 days of shoot. Can't believe it's been 8 months, how time flies.

*..A movie a week..*

Just watched Le Choristes (2004) with slave today on DVD. Borrowed from sch lib for 2 weeks already (and it's overdue by a few days cos I was lazy to walk to the lib to renew). Finally got down to watching it, and it was a good 95 minutes invested.


I loveee musical films.
Well, this isn't really a musical film, but a music-based film or along those lines.

I loveeee films with inspirational teachers in them! Maybe cos one of my dreams is to become a teacher that leaves a mark in students' lives. It's about making a difference, regardless of its extent. Hmm like Freedom Writers too.

I especially loveee films that use MUSIC to inspire, or rather, as a platform to inspire. Or even the use of music to drive the plot forward or as a tool of any form. Like "Music & Lyrics", "Once", films like that.

I lovee shows with a bitter-sweet ending that leaves you tight-chested at the end because it's just so compelling and heartfelt.

Watch "Les Choristes", strong characterization (that every student stands out on their own despite the huge number). VERY NICE!!! XQ LIKE!

*..The 5 Movies I Like..*

Haha just emailed WC, our lecturer, a short description of why we like a particular 5 movies from US/UK. And it made me think about the shows I've watched. How hard it is to choose just 5 shows I REALLY like. i can easily name you the shows I liked, but to rank them, it's really tough. Hmmmmm. I was thinking, maybe I should start a blog with a brief summary (or not) of the films I've watched. AKA like a Film Log, to remind a very forgetful xq about the show I've watched. Usually quite bad at titles.


Hmm xq seems to like shows that make her cry like mad. 3 out of the 5 shows listed here made me cry buckets. TSK.

There's something about "I AM SAM", so moving that I can't help breaking down endlessly in all the 3 times I've watched the show. My favouritest movie, that's something I know for sure.

Anyhows, so begins my 2 days of holidays!!! *cough* I mean weekend. Just submitted the final treatment aka assignment for the summer term module last night. It was torturous, yet fun doing it. You know, the mixed feeling I get when writing long paragraphs. You love it, yet you hate it. New semester begins on 1st Feb (Monday), at least it's a weekend without any HW.

Woohoo meeting xiaobai aka my wife (peiwen) soon for a day of things we haven't done in a long while. Then slave for dinner and DVD!

And it's another happy day tmr.

*..Kidnapper, A Kelvin Tong Film..*

Have been seeing "Kidnapper" the movie's film poster at the billboards of bus stops of late.


Had the sudden crave to google it and found the trailer. Wow, pretty amazed by the trailer. Despite being on set throughout the filming, and peeking at the monitor from behind Kelvin Tong's back most of the time, the trailer looks kinda refreshing. Editing does magic, really.

Stipulated for release in March 2010. Heh can't wait for it! =) Like how I was excited about "Blood Ties" by Oak 3 Films. Only this is of greater excitement, as there's some sense of attachment to this film. After all, it took up practically my entire July. Round the clock. And the 1st feature shoot I experienced in full, my 1st time up close and personal with an A list TV star, a scintillating experience etched in my mind. Which reminds me, I still have 925629 photos in my hard disk from the Behind The Scenes..HAHA can't upload till the movie is up, so they lie forgotten in my cupboard. They made us sign something. -_-


Hmmm can't wait for March! OH SHIT. Hope the premiere doesn't clash with HK trip, else I'll feel so siannnnn. PLS PLS PLS! hahaha!!!

Okay back to Hero's Journey readings for tmr's class. I haven't read any the past 2 weeks properly. Bits here and there, so now I have to sufferrr the consequences...

This weekend, I/we did all sorts of things. A good mix I would say, albeit simple, but every bit felt nice =)

- Booked HK tics for March 20-28th 2010. HK Film Mart is from 22-25th March and there's been a crazy email furore. My 1st time booking air tics myself!




To date, 20 Chapman mates are going! YAY sounds like fun. Can't wait for March, amidst the terrible school term next semester. Gotta find some way to earn money to tide over bad times like this. Hahaha aka holidays that pop up from nowhere and disrupt planned expenditure.

- watched 2 fantastic films =)

(1) Harold & Kumar (Part 2), was refreshing watching it a 2nd time. made more sense after we watched the Part 1.


(2) Notting Hill. Been wanting to watch this since forever, and never regret watching it. Awwwww, sweet and hilarious. Right down to the supporting casts!


- went to SIFF admin office (at some dodgy place btw! haha!)
- went bukit panjang plaza walked arnd & yummy curry chicken
- ate wanton mee @ LH's house coffeeshop
- brought mama low & friend to vegetarian wholesale shop
- topped up snacks shelf of slave's room (oriental clams woohoo!)
- cleaned ham ham's cage

- "matchmade" Ham ham with Torti (Slave's bro's hamster). But they're both girls. OOPS. Shall put their cages side by side everydayyyy! At least they seem happier this way with company, or so I think. HAHA! cos his bro don't let us put the hamsters in the same cage. puiiii.

- went market with mama and papa foo
- went fish shop!
- polished 2x piano & 1 guzheng for mama foo
- polished and tuned, changed string for 2 x guitar
- played badminton at long last!!
- got 1 x $30 summon and wrote appeal email to HDB
- slave cooked dinner for the Lows! *pats head*
- burned Cao Ge's CD for Slave's van
- emailed 289367252 KINO invites (ok number is exaggerated lol) It's scary when my inbox looks like that.


WOOHOO, can't wait for next weekend. 5 more daysssss =) I guess there's nothing wrong looking forward to the end of week each week.

Exciting, there's gonna be seminars and screenings filling schedules in the weeks to come =) FSV Alumni Chapter Events, SMU Film Fest, Substation and what-nots.

And I still haven't watch AVATAR & Sherlock Holmes. Hahaha terribleeee.

*..17 Days of Laughter and Tears..*

Tomorrow marks the start of summer term aka SCHOOL BEGINS. Oh misery. It's school from Monday-Thursdays till the end of January. Just one module, but sounds like something I'd hate. Pitching, selling yourself, first impressions. I rather write a thousand essays, seriously.

So a round-up of the past 17 days of holidays (18th December 2009 - 3rd January 2010). I guess it was fruitful in some ways, accomplished alot, experienced far more, including things that we've least expected. There were more sorrows than fun, but we should always wipe off the tears and move on to happier things.

Memory's been really lousy, so here's what I can roughly remember of the holidays.

Watched films with slave on my com/dvd.

(1) Once (2007). Cecilia recommended this and the soundtracks were nicee. Simple story that touches the heart.


(2) Harold & Kumar: Go To White Castle (2004). Needless to say, HILARIOUS. hahaha! shall re-watch the Part 2 with slave soon!


(3) Handsome Suit. Been wanting to watch this in the longest time. Calvin told me looong ago that it's really funny, and sure it was!


(4) Spiderman 3 (On channel 5 last night). When i see spiderman, i think of GINA. HAHA!

During my exams, Slave's house was undergoing a major revamp and repainting. He swapped rooms with his family members and now has the master bed room. So when xq's exams ended, repainting was done and just in time for packing =) I LOVE PACKING ROOMS. Provided it's not my own room. haha!!! new room so nice now, feels like a chalet everytime im in the room!

I Finally visited grandma after 5 weeks of absence. =) I tried to have lunch/dinner with mum at her office whenever I could! Even went shopping with her on several days. Simple stuff like these that I cannot do on school days.

Met mole on 22nd December 2009 as well =) At PS! Jay chou was gonna be there for a promotional event, so the place was packed to the brim. We sat outside for chats over macdonalds icecream instead. HAHA!

Christmas 2009 was especially refreshing. Had an impromptu road trip with my family to KL & Genting. Departed 23rd December 4am and reached SG 26th December 7am. Our 3rd christmas abroad, last time had it at batam and malacca. Been years since our last trip (in secondary school), so it felt nice =) Also my first time visiting these places, and my first visit to the casino! haha! loved the weather at Genting! More about this next time, some vague pictures for now.

Bro drove most of the time, but gave up towards the end and dad took over.

Came back to SG on 26th December 2009, and had post-christmas gift exchange! =)

Heh heh, isn't this cuteeee? Guess whose idea! Slave showed me his baby pictures after we finished packing his room 2 weeks back. AWWW SUPER CUTE, but I was cuter leh. =p So that was another thing accomplished during the holidays--Finally got to see slave's childhood pictures.

Released my bro's 2 turtles, i mean terrapins. They've been in my toilet since 2002. 7 years! mum's been wanting to release them, but don't know where. Turns out that Slave has also been wanting to release them since the first time he saw them in my toilet. HAHA. So on 27th December 2009, we did just that! Went to Punggol Park's huge pond.

1st and last photo of them. Sad to say, they're forgotten pets at the corner of my toilet. Only mum feeds them diligently everyday. The big male one is always bullying (and stepping on) the small female one. They were of the same size when someone gave my brother 9 years ago.

(2) On 30th December 2009, we finally settled for our much-craved SALMON DON. Salmon don @ Sushi Tei rocks socks! Cheap and yummiest salmon don ever existed in any jap restaurant. No kidding! Mole would second that.

(3) Finally, settled our craving for MOSBURGER as well. On 1st Jan 2010! Breaded Clams and prawns. And ebi burger =)

Then there's NYE =) xq did something she's been wanting to do for ages, but hadn't had to time/opportunity to. I shopped alone from 10am to 1pm in town! Hunting for mum's Mondo shoes and plain window shopping. I love shopping alone. Hmm and visited Borders for some reads too =) Wonder when I can afford time for such indulgence again.

NYE was a Simple countdown after a crazy few days of car problems. But simplicity always works. We had seafood dinner @ Changi Village with slaves 2 bros and their gfs.


Finally collected our Threadless parcel from carolyn! Slave bought 5, whilst I bought 1. And they say girls shop more! *cough*

We'll miss you Bahbu, thanks for the last 3 months. =) Nonetheless, as the saying goes, “旧的不去，新的不来”. As the new year begins with a new vehicle, that's another new beginning as well.

That's about all I can recall of the holidays. I guess it was pretty fulfilling and memorable =) SIGH TERRIBLEEEEE the next holidays issssssss...END OF MAY. SO LONGGGGG (*^*&%^&*$%^&#$&%#&%!!!!!!! fancy 5.5 months of continuous school term. Chapman drives us crazy at times like this, maybe that's why we get to graduate in 2 years.

Goodbye holidays, albeit 17 days, I had a really niceeee time soaking in laughter and tears.
